Travel Information

Currency

Canada uses the Canadian dollar.  The Canadian dollar ($C) is currently very slightly cheaper than a US$ (1US$ = 1,03$C).  Several currency exchange shops operate at the airport, and banks will exchange US dollars.  Banking machines are easily found and accept the international cards such as Cirrus.  Finally, many shops will accept US$.

Travel to Montreal, Canada

Montreal is a 3 million person metropolitan area served by Pierre-Elliot Trudeau International Airport (airport code YUL).  It is served by most North American and many international airlines.
The airport is located 25-30 minutes from the downtown area, and 15-20 minutes from the competition venue.

If you take a taxi from the airport to the competition area, a flat fee of 28 $C applies.  In the unlikely event that you are offered a metered ride, politely decline.

You may rent a car at the airport; most major North American rentals are present.  However, public transit, especially the subway (which Montrealers call the Metro) is the easiest way to go downtown from the competition area.  Taxi to and from the airport, and public transit are safe, and the "no hassles" choice.

Tourism

Montreal has an extensive site concerning sightseeing, attractions, dining, etc. See http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/

Competition Venue
The competition venue is located on Van Horne Avenue, directly across the Plamondon subway station. The exact address is
Centre Sportif Côte-des-Neiges, 4880 Van Horne, Montreal, Québec, Canada H3W 1J3.   Note that the Plamondon station has two exits, use the Van Horne exit.
IF YOU COME BY CAR, YOU MUST NOT PARK IN THE SHOPPING CENTER ACROSS THE STREET (you will get towed).  On Saturday and Sunday you may park at the school corner corner Victoria and Van Horne.   Click on Google Maps to see the location and get driving directions.
